Time-Lapse Radar Footage of FedEx Planes Avoiding a Thunderstorm

This hit the front page of digg.com this morning:

A neat video to watch as it shows the great lengths Air Traffic Control and pilots go to avoid flying through thunderstorms. Many have likened it to watching ants as they return to their nest.

It's especially cool to watch the little planes seem to "freak out" as the storm is directly over Memphis International. Some circle around for a bit while others "bug out" (bad pun, had to do it) for other destinations.

Also makes me think that if they can track so many planes at one time then why did Tom Hanks get stuck on that stupid island for four years?
